Missing Texas Mom Heidi Broussard Update: Body Reportedly Recovered In Trunk Of Car

[UPDATE 12:14 PM] Megan Rose Fieramusca, aka Maygen Humphrey, has been charged with kidnapping and corpse tampering. She is currently in county jail. Reportedly, Fieramusca had been planning to take Broussard's baby. A second person is also reportedly in custody but has yet to be publicly named. Sources expect Megan to additionally be charged with murder, as reported by KVUE.

On Thursday, a body was recovered at a Harris County home that police believe is Heidi Broussard. A newborn baby was also found unharmed inside the residence, which law enforcement thinks is her one-month-old daughter, Margot Carey.

According to ABC 13, a body was recovered inside a trunk of a car. Online records and a source revealed that the vehicle is said to be registered to someone Broussard knows. Per the outlet, around 8:15 p.m., law enforcement entered the home. At one point, approximately two dozen officers and agents were said to be at the scene.

On Tuesday, Detective Brad Herries of the Houston Police Department had told reporters that they were investigating every scenario as at that time they were unsure if foul play was involved.

This followed a search for the missing mother and her baby daughter as the two were last seen on Dec. 12. Previously, police had also stated that they believed Broussard had returned to her residence after dropping her son off at school. Following her disappearance, they discovered that she had left personal items behind, such as her purse, ID, and the baby's diaper bag.

They also indicated that her fiancé, Shane Carey, had likely been the last one to see her alive.

Carey had spoken to reporters about his fiancée's disappearance on the morning of Dec. 13 while at a T-Mobile attempting to obtain phone records. At that time he had said, "If you see an awesome mom with a baby walking around or in a suspicious van or car or anything, please just somebody call," he said, as reported by CBS Austin.

Additionally, one of Broussard's friends had also broken their silence this week, which painted a different picture of her relationship with Shane. After saying that they did not believe she would willingly leave her son, they stated that the dynamic between the couple had been "kind of rocky" at times.

The baby's identity has not yet been released, but she has reportedly been brought to a nearby hospital and did not have any obvious injuries. Child Protective Services has requested an evaluation.

At this time, at least one person is said to be in custody and authorities have stated they plan to release more information at some point on Friday.
