Since Dec. 12, Austin police have continued to investigate the whereabouts of Heidi Broussard and her newborn daughter, Margot Carey. After the mother dropped her son off at school that morning, neither her or her daughter have been seen again. Now, those who are working on the case have discussed further developments pertaining to their whereabouts.

According to People, a detective who works for the Austin Police Department revealed that while they are still investigating, a person of interest has not been identified. Detective Brad Herries explained on Tuesday when speaking to reporters that they do not have a reason to believe that Broussard and her baby were harmed.

"We are still looking for them in a search-and-recovery manner," he stated, adding, "Our assumption is that they are alive, so the sooner we can find them, the better."

Herries refused to discuss anything pertaining to whether or not be believes the 33-year-old left with her daughter willingly or if foul play is involved, as he stated either scenario was possible.

Additionally, the official stated that the authorities believe that she returned to the Austin apartment that she shares with her fiancée and the father of her children, Shane Carey, on the morning of Dec. 12. However, that was as much as the detective would offer about the investigation as he refused to discuss previous 911 calls that may have been made from the residence.

Carey previously spoke out about his fiancée's disappearance on Dec. 13 when he was visiting a T-Mobile store in an effort to obtain phone records.

"If you see an awesome mom with a baby walking around or in a suspicious van or car or anything, please just somebody call," he said, according to CBS Austin.

Due to the fact that they have not publicly named any specific individuals that could lead to answers, Herries asked that the public call 512-974-5250 to report any information or give any tips that could help locate the two.

Herries also stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Texas Rangers, and Texas Department of Public Safety have joined the search efforts.
