Madeleine McCann's 2007 disappearance from her parents' hotel room in Praia da Luz, Portugal, has found renewed interest in recent months after the identification of Christian Brückner as the prime suspect.

Over the past decade, McCann's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have partnered with police in an attempt to discover new information that could help solve the case. Following the news of Brückner's suspected involvement in the 3-year-old's disappearance, his attorney, Friedrich Fülscher, is now speaking out about his "friendly" interactions with his client.

Fülscher revealed to German news outlet RTL.de that he perceives Brückner, who goes by the nickname "Christian B," to be "a very calm and friendly person to talk to," as translated by The Sun. He added that he has also found his client to be "pleasant" during their interactions.

Furthermore, Fülscher stated that Brückner's decision to not publicly speak about the McCann case "doesn't show that he is guilty" as it's "just a normal practice of reserving your right to remain silent."

This account of Brückner's demeanor follows other reports that have surfaced in recent months about his behavior behind the scenes. Not only did a former roommate state that he had once been "obsessed with the dark web," but others claimed that he had once "freaked out" when McCann's name was mentioned.

As for where the case stands aside from the firsthand account from Brückner's lawyer, reports have indicated that the open investigation may be moving in a new direction due to the belief that "significant" evidence could be provided by unexpected people.

At this time, Brückner remains behind bars for an unrelated crime, but it has been stated that he has continued to be uncooperative regarding the ongoing investigation surrounding McCann's disappearance. However, he did previously speak through his attorney.
