For the first time since the 1980s, the city of Tel Aviv has hosted the first major fashion week in Israel in cooperation with Italy.

The three-day fashion show, which started Nov.21, witnessed an impressive creation collaboration between Israeli and Italian designers.

The event has been organised following a two-years planning by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (Italy's CFDA equivalent) with Israeli fashion executives. The latter were led by the deputy CEO of the Israel Fashion and Textile Association, Ofir Lev.

The new collaboration provides a unique opportunity for Israeli designers to showcase their artistic and fashion creations at the Milan Fashion Week in Italy.

As per the agreement, five young designers from Israel will get the opportunity to take part at the next Milan Fashion Week.

Inaugurating the Tel Aviv fashion week was couture designer Roberto Cavalli who showcased his Spring 2012 collection.

I feel that fashion today... is international because all of you read the same magazines, we watch the same movies and fashion is there. From there you get an idea what to buy, the Daily Mail quoted Cavalli as saying at a Tel Aviv press conference.
